Manny is an extremely moody woolly mammoth who would rather be left alone. On the outside, he looks like your typical 2 story tall, 10,000 pound elephant wearing a fur coat. But behind those pearly whites and cool exterior is the Ice Age’s biggest heart. He doesn't believe mammoths are going extinct and time will give him reason. He finally finds love with Ellie, a female mammoth after convincing her she is NOT a possum.
Worldly. Witty. Smooth. Debonair. Ask Sid to describe himself and he may use one of these words. Ask anyone, and we mean ANYONE, else and you might hear: Goofball. Loudmouth. Klutz. Embarrassment. Regardless of who you believe, you can’t deny Sid’s a fast talker. Talking his way in and out of trouble, he's the smooth operator. He keeps everyone glued together and no matter how annoying he can be, everyone loves him because he is a loyal and loving friend.
Diego’s the only meat eater of the bunch. He normally travels (and hunts) in a pack, and he can smell humans coming from miles away. He joined Manny and Sid in theif first adventure and became friend with them eventually. He has a sinister and manipulative nature but is quite tender at heart when you know where to look. He is courageous and loyal but his courage tends to dissolve in water, the only thing he fears more than anything else.
Scrat is a mammal on a mission, recovering his precious nut, no matter what it takes. He will chase it through a watery, muddy mess that has become the place he lives in. But floods or big scary birds don't scare him, he will defeat anything coming between his nut and him. Even though getting his two hands on it means breaking ice in two or flooding the whole place, he always manages to survive and continue his nut hunt.
Eddie is the sensitive one of the two possum brothers. He usually follows Crash's footsteps through all the mayhem and stunts. He was born thirty-six seconds before his brother because the later one kicked him out. Some of his hobbies include running in circle for no apparent reasons, eating rotten things or getting dirty and smelly. He loves food and will do anything for it. Really. A devilish grin on his face always means an idea's lurking inside his head.
Crash is Eddie's twin brother. There is no tree he can't ctapult from, no animal too tough to antagonize and no boiling tar pit too hot or too large to leap over. He has a pushed in nose from constantly running into things. He likes to use his queue as a whip or a jumping rope. His natural defenses include the ability to play dead and foam at the mouth to look diseased. Source says he likes his food stinky and green, like his women. Yuck.
Ellie is a female mammoth who believes she's a possum and she is comfortable with that. She's fun-loving and a free-spirit which continually challenges Manny's rigid sense of mammoth propriety. Ellie also comes with excess baggage in the form of her two possum brothers, Crash and Eddie. Raised in a possum family, she believes her tail is great for hanging from trees and swinging from limb to limb. At least that's what she thinks. She even tried to ride on her grandma's back once. We don't know what became of her..
