FANLISTINGS
Fanlistings are the creation of Janine who owns thefanlistings.org.
She originally wanted to see exactly how many Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans
are out there and so created a fanlisting for it. It is a place where fans of
a certain film/actor/actress/etc. join to show that they are a fan. For more
information visit thefanlistings.org. This site is officially approved by The
Fanlistings Network.
THE SONG
Lyrics:
You have so many relationships in this life
Only one or two will last
You go through all the pain and strife
Then you turn your back and they're gone so fast
And they're gone so fast
So hold on the ones who really care
In the end they'll be the only ones there
When you get old and start losing your hair
Can you tell me who will still care?
Can you tell me who will still care?
MMMBop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
ba duba dop ba du
MMMBop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
ba duba dop ba du
In an MMMBop they're gone
Plant a seed, plant a flower, plant a rose
You can plant any one of those
Keep planting to find out which one grows
It's a secret no one knows
It's a secret no one knows
MMMBop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
ba duba dop ba du
MMMBop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
ba duba dop ba du
In an MMMBop they're gone
In an MMMBop they're not there
In an MMMBop they're gone
In an MMMBop they're not there
Until you lose your hair
But you don't care
MMMBop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
ba duba dop ba du
MMMBop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
ba duba dop ba du
Can you tell me? No you can't cos you don't know
Can you tell me? You say you can but you don't know
Can you tell me which flower's going to grow?
Can you tell me if it's going to be a daisy or a rose?
MMMBop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
ba duba dop ba du
MMMBop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
Ba duba dop ba du bop
ba duba dop ba du
What Hanson has to say about it:
"We were doing our first independent record, boomerang, and we were thinking of background parts, and we came up with 'MMMBop,' yeah, the chorus of it. And then over a period of a year we would sign it and have it in our heads and just you know, you have all sorts of songs you've written a that's just one of the parts, and it was just one of those things that we'd go, "oh, do you remember that part?" and then after about a year, I don't even know how it happened, we ended up writing the rest of the song; made a verse and it worked really well; the chorus, and then it really became the song." (Taylor)
"It’s about holding on to the ones who really care, which might be your brothers and sisters if you have them." (Zac)
From Wikipedia.org
"MMMBop" is a song written and performed by the American band Hanson. It originally appeared on the album MMMBop (1996) as a ballad, but, with production by hit producers The Dust Brothers became the first hit single off of the band's debut album Middle of Nowhere (1997).
"MMMBop" was a number one hit worldwide. It was also one of the biggest debut singles of all time; for instance, in Australia it became only the second debut single to enter the ARIA charts at the number one position. It was voted the best single of the year in The Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics poll, while also topping critics' polls from such publications and media outlets as Rolling Stone, Spin, and VH1. "MMMBop" was nominated for two Grammys in the 40th Annual Grammy Awards in February, 1998.
The song's lyrics talk about the transient and unpredictable nature of friendship, referring to how friendships come and go in an "MMMBop", meaning a short space of time. The song therefore urges listeners to "hang on to the ones who really care, in the end they'll be the only ones there".
Like many songs that achieved extreme popularity, this song has experienced somewhat of a backlash against its once ubiquitous airplay. Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown, Pennsylvania, for example, had a fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Katrina called "Stop the Bop." The school played the song before classes begin in the morning, and between each period over the school PA system. The playing of this song was only stopped when the school raised $3,000 for hurricane relief and the school thereby "stopped the bop." [1] After the fundraising had concluded, Hanson responded graciously by matching the students' donation as well as sending a copy of their 2004 album Underneath for every student in the school
